Striped Knit Cardigan for Small Dogs

Some Dogs Dress Warmer Than Their Owners

Small dogs and shivering go together from October onwards, yet so many pet sweaters are shapeless tubes that sag off the shoulders by lunchtime. A proper knitted cardigan brings real warmth in a cut that actually stays put: buttoned up the front, snug at the cuffs, and smart enough for every festive photo on the calendar. This striped knit cardigan is that rare pet piece: genuinely cosy and genuinely adorable.

Cardigan Smart, Puppy Soft

Knitted in bold block stripes with cream trim, this cardigan closes with two real buttons down the front, so dressing never involves pulling anything over sensitive ears. The ribbed collar sits high and cosy around the neck, ribbed cuffs and hem keep the fit tidy through zoomies, and the soft knit flexes with every stretch and sprint. It is preppy, it is warm, and it photographs like a dream.

Style Notes for Photographers

Stripes read beautifully in autumnal light, so aim your camera at golden hour for maximum charm. The cream trim keeps the whole look crisp wash after wash, and the buttons sit centre-frame in every pose your dog strikes, which will be many.

Why Buttons Change the Dressing Game

Head-shy dogs do dramatically better with clothes that don't go over their face. A cardigan lays on the back and buttons in two clicks, which turns dressing from a daily standoff into a non-event. Nervous dogs stay calm, and you keep your fingers and your dignity.

Care and Keeping

Cool hand wash or a gentle machine cycle, reshape while damp, and dry flat so the collar and cuffs keep their spring. (The supplier lists 100% cotton; we haven't independently confirmed the blend.) Folded rather than hung, the knit keeps its shape all season.

The Smartest Dog on the Street

Picture a crisp weekend stroll: your pup buttoned into navy stripes, trotting past the café tables collecting the kind of compliments usually reserved for babies. Warm, dapper, and completely unbothered. That's cardigan season.
